“One of Hull’s most innovative artists…” Dom Smith, Soundsphere Magazine
Described as “one of Hull’s most innovative artists…” Yorkshire born singer-songwriter Jack Parker has been captivating audiences all across the region. Taking influence from John Newman, Passenger and his local folk scene, Jack combines his rustic, singer-songwriter style with powerful, emotion driven lyrics.
Jack began performing in 2012, playing at small, local open mics in and around his hometown Bridlington. Drawing from his own experiences of life and love, Jack recorded his first album ‘Love Like Her’ in 2015 whilst at school. ‘It really was touch and go’ Jack recalls, ‘at one point the computer I was recording with completely fell to bits!’ Despite the challenges faced, the album later made its appearance on BBC Radio Humberside. After supporting “psychedelic sci-fi folk” band Maia in early 2016, Jack was invited to perform at Costa Del Folk festival in Mallorca, Spain. He has since performed across Europe in Portugal and Amsterdam and Ibiza. He is due to return to the festival in Portugal this October. Jack also performed at countless UK festivals across the region including Beverley Folk Festival, Cornicopia, Humber Street Sesh, Cottingham Springboard and Tribfest.
Using live recording technology, Jack takes his show to the next level. Playing guitar and keyboard on stage he accompanies his down-to-earth, acoustic style with large and dramatic electronic sounds, reminiscent of acts Ed Sheeran and Gavin James. Jack’s latest EP ‘Wild’ is a burst of fun, excitement and style, with emotional undertones that gently pull on the heart strings. Featuring his own dog ‘Loki’ on the front cover, Jack’s latest EP ‘Wild’ is out now.
